The Arizona Center for Disability Law will address the issue of restraint and seclusion in Arizona schools by hosting a daylong workshop in September. The workshop will be held at the Disability Empowerment Center, 5025 E.Washington Street, on Wednesday, September 23 from 9 AM to 4 PM. The goal of this FREE training is to provide parents with information that leads to the prevention of restraint and seclusion or the removal of a student with challenging behavior from the educational environment. The training will feature two sessions. The morning session will be conducted by Renaldo Fowler and JoAnn Sheperd from the Center. Dr. Daniel Davidson, an expert in this field from the Institute for Human Development at Northern Arizona University, will conduct the second session.
For more information or to reserve space in the workshop, please contact the Center by calling 602-274-6287 (voice/TTY) or 1-800-927-2260 (toll free) or by e-mail at kvanhorne@azdisabilitylaw.org.
